Matt helps clients plan and implement compelling urban growth strategies that benefit everyone.
His work fuses real estate analysis, housing policy, economic development, and neighborhood planning to bring innovative development and policy initiatives to life. Prior to joining HR&A, Matt worked extensively within Atlanta’s Westside neighborhoods as an urban planning and real estate strategy consultant. He supported the capacity of organizations like the Westside Future Fund, Atlanta Housing Authority, Atlanta BeltLine, and Invest Atlanta to fight displacement and promote community revitalization. He directed the analysis, design, and implementation of the Westside Future Fund’s Anti-Displacement Tax Fund, a cross-collaborative $5 million philanthropic program created to mitigate the growing property tax burden of vulnerable Westside homeowners.
Elsewhere, Matt has led community retention and housing studies in the West End of Charlotte, VA and Houston’s Third Ward and has supported his clients to realize creative real estate solutions for a variety of mixed-income and mixed-use projects, like the adaptive reuse of Atlanta’s Roosevelt Hall.
Matt holds a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Georgia.
